About Aperture
Aperture is a measurement of the amount of light allowed to hit an image (exposure) and this will determine how bright the picture is.

Deep Field 1

This is a deep depth field picture because the forefront of the picture is not in focus
It has lines directing the centre of the picture.
You can see the texture of the tarmac.
Shallow Field 1

Chain is the main part of the picture so it is in focus.
The light in the back is out of focus
This picture shows lines and shapes.
The lines are in the wall of brick.
The shape is oval in the chain links.
The picture has a visible texture
Deep Field 2

The metal bars on the wheels are out of focus at the front.
There are diagonal lines going in a spiral
You can see the circular shape of the wheels and the shape of the light on the wheel

Aperture activity

This picture is over exposed, the aperture let in too much light and so you cannot see what it is supposed to be. We were not allowed to change the settings but I could I would've turned the ISO down. By changing the F number to something higher it wouldn't be so exposed.
David La Chapelle using shallow depth field
The background of this picture is out of focus. The lady is the subject of the picture so she is in the centre and she is in focus.

Evaluation
I struggled with understanding depth of field at first, but am I am now at a point where I fully understand it.
